Manuela PALMA

CO-OWNER, LOS CHULENGOS

MENDOZA, ARGENTINA

Meet Manuela, co-owner of Los Chulengos - a historic ranch in the middle of the Andes mountains that has been with the Palma family for generations.

Today, Manuela and her sisters Ana and Ines manage the ranch, opening it up to tourists when their family isn’t using it as their gathering spot. Los Chulengos is one of our favorite places to enjoy a glass of Malbec and take in the Mendoza countryside. A true taste of traditional Argentine culture.

Why would I [work somewhere else] if I could be in a paradise, working with my family, hosting excited tourists, hopeful about our place and our service? At the end of the day, I chose making people happy.

LEARN MORE ABOUT MANUELA

1.  DID YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU WANTED TO CONTINUE IN THE FAMILY BUSINESS? IF NOT, WHAT LED YOU BACK?

No, not always. I studied law. When I got my degree I started working in a law firm, and I realized then that I didn’t like going to court everyday, surrounded by papers and bad-tempered, grumpy people. Why would I do that if I could be in a paradise, working with my family, hosting excited tourists, hopeful about our place and our service? At the end of the day, I chose making people happy instead of creating a headache for others.

2. WHAT ARE THREE WORDS YOU WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE MENDOZA?

It’s breathtaking, full of adventures to enjoy with family and friends.

3. IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE TOMORROW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO AND WHO WOULD YOU TAKE WITH YOU?

I would go skiing to Europe, maybe France, with all my family (parents, siblings, brothers in law and all the kids).
