Each experience was heartfelt and curated to be important and special.
My favorite was traveling along the bayou to one of the best meals I have had in my entire life hosted by Mosquito Supper Club. What a magical, unique and once in a lifetime experience. And I think that is exactly what Wild Terrains is in the business of…magical, unique and once in a lifetime
— Shari C.
Another amazing trip! I was never sure about New Orleans, but I knew if anyone could provide a special and unique experience it would be Wild Terrains. From learning the history of New Orleans to cruising down the Bayou for a once in a lifetime dinner and everything in between, this was the perfect long weekend.

NEW ORLEANS ITINERARY

DAY ONE

We’ll ease into the Big Easy, making ourselves at home at Liz Lambert’s stunning Saint Vincent Hotel, before meeting the other women in our krewe over a poolside cocktail.

History runs deep in New Orleans. Colonization, slavery, the civil rights movement, hurricanes, and perennial waves of immigration have all played a role in shaping this city as resilient and creative. So our first order of business is joining a historical tour of the city led by Tamara Prosper who will dive deep into the culture through the lens of women.

In the evening we’re invited to a private dinner party hosted bt Kaitlin Guerin, owner and pastry chef of Lagniappe Baking. Kaitlin’s got the desserts covered, and her mom’s preparing a traditional Creole dish for us. The evening is sure to have plenty of lagniappe, Cajun French for "a little something extra."

Meals included: dinner

DAY TWO

If we know one thing: it’s that no one wants an early wake up call during a trip to NOLA! You’ve got the morning to yourself - sleep in, grab an espresso at the hotel’s Elizabeth Street Cafe, and soak up some rays by the pool.

We’ll meet in the early afternoon for a walking tour with local designers Alysia Fields and Toni Point, highlighting the history of New Orleans architecture and popping into their favorite women-owned businesses along oak-tree-lined Magazine Street. We’ll end at their very own storefront - The Collective Shop - for a New Orleans-themed cocktail party before heading to dinner at chef Sophina Uong’s Mister Mao.

The rest of the evening is yours to catch a jazz set at Tipitina’s or one of our other favorite women-owned clubs.

Meals included: breakfast, dinner

DAY THREE

We’re skipping town and traveling south to meet celebrated chef Melissa Martin and the Mosquito Supper Club team for a dreamy day along the bayou. One of New Orleans’ most coveted dinner reservations and a bestselling cookbook, Mosquito Supper Club is taking us to their original roots, giving us an exclusive look at Melissa’s hometown and source of inspiration. Aboard a local fisherman’s boat we’ll explore Louisiana’s endangered coastline, learning about the ecosystem, cuisine, and culture of rural Cajun communities. At sunset, we’ll sit down for a heartwarming feast that pays homage to Melissa’s mom, aunt, and grandmother’s cooking. Think: shrimp okra gumbo, fried soft shell crabs, and blackberry dumplings. It’s a culinary experience that might change how you look at Louisiana forever.

Meals included: breakfast, dinner

DAY FOUR

After one last leisurely morning at Saint Vincent Hotel, we’ll say our goodbyes and part ways until next time! If you're planning to extend your stay in New Orleans, we'll help you get to the right place (with some travel tips, of course!).

Meals included: breakfast

Please note this is a sample itinerary and some variations will happen between trips due to our partners’ schedules,

WHY NEW ORLEANS?

Over 300 years old, New Orleans is one of the most culturally rich cities in the United States, with a fascinating history and a deep sense of place. Our founder Lauren’s family is from Louisiana, so this trip holds a special place in our hearts. Here at Wild Terrains, we’re excited to shift the spotlight away from Mardi Gras, Bourbon Street and the long line at Café du Monde, and connect you with the real New Orleans.

BEST TIME OF YEAR
TO VISIT

Ah, New Orleans - known and feared for its hot, humid, and steamy weather. We run our trips in the “cooler” months meaning October - April, and skip major festival weeks to avoid the crowds.
