THE CONCEPT OF KIOSK IS SO ROOTED IN COLLABORATION AND CELEBRATION OF DIVERSE STYLES. HOW HAS WORKING WITH OTHER WOMEN DESIGNERS INFLUENCED YOUR INDIVIDUAL APPROACH TO MAKING ART?

This concept is something that I want to see in every city that I visit. When you have an artist run gallery or shop you are always in contact with your client which gives you a deeper understanding of what people want or need. Working with the team in Kiosk has just been a dream. We support each other 100%. We share our contacts, help each other out, give each other opinion on what they should do next and yes we do have fun together! Working in a group like that you want and need everyone to succeed.

YOUR CAREER IN FASHION HAS TAKEN YOU AROUND THE GLOBE AND BACK. HAS TRAVEL EVER MADE YOU SEE YOUR ICELANDIC IDENTITY, ARTISTICALLY AND PERSONALLY SPEAKING, IN A NEW LIGHT?

Yes! I feel like the Icelandic attitude is a bit carefree. We are known for being quite spontaneous and honestly I feel like that´s what makes Reykjavík such a fun city to live in. It probably has something to do with the weather changes, we have to act quick sometimes. Hurry up to get the sheep in before a snowstorm! Icelanders don’t have a very long history when it comes to art and design and I think that gives us a certain freedom to play and experiment. You are allowed to try and fail. And try again!

WHAT IS AN ASPECT OF ICELANDIC CULTURE THAT YOU ARE MOST EXCITED TO SHARE WITH OUR TRAVELERS?

Well not our traditional food hahaha... Showing people how much creativity thrives here, there are quite a few great designer shops in Reykjavík that I love to show our travelers. The creative force of our picnic ladies is definitely something that stands out as well, just you wait!
