Yovana Salas Coaquira

CUSCO

Yovana Salas Coaquira is the steward of one of Cusco's most beloved culinary traditions. Trained as a teacher and official tour guide, she brings her love of history and culture to the family picaronería on Calle Ruinas, founded by her aunt Rosario around 1978. Yovana took over in 2020 and now safeguards a nearly 50-year-old recipe that connects generations of Cusqueños. For her, keeping the family hearth burning honors the past while keeping a piece of Cusco alive.
