Natalia Lumbreras, born in 1968 in Madrid and based in Menorca, Spain, is a textile artist known for her exploration of color on silk.

After high school, Natalia went to live in London pursuing her dream of becoming a Fashion and Textile designer.

One year at Heatherley School of Fine Art where she did a Foundation course, drove her to apply to Saint Martins College of Art and Design where she spend the next 3 years graduating in BA Hons in 1991.

“I am an artist who paints natural fabrics, particularly high-quality silks. But, unlike what happens to painters with their canvases, in my case the mysterious attributes of the textile medium are an essential part of the final work. The sensuality of the fabric, the nobility of its weave or the grace of its movement when exposed to a draught are preserved at all costs.

My intimate vocation is to intervene manually these extraordinary materials. The foundation of my work is the infinite play of combinations between line, colour and movement.”
