Johana Sarmiento is cofounder and director of ALQA, a museum of Andean folk art in Cusco. Her research centers on the artistic and ritual traditions of high-Andean communities, exploring how art and collective memory shape identity and carry forms of cultural resistance. At ALQA, she blends research, curation, and cultural mediation to strengthen the ties between heritage, territory, and community, preserving traditional knowledge through a participatory, inclusive lens.
