1. WHAT PART OF MEXICO ARE YOU ORIGINALLY FROM?
I’m from Hidalgo, a little windy state surrounded by big beautiful mountains, an hour and a half outside of Mexico City. It’s a very cozy state where most people know each other. Hidalgo is a state full of traditions, for example “pastes,” “barcacoa,” and “pulque,” and it has a lot of outdoors activities to enjoy.
2. WHAT DOES “HOME” MEAN TO YOU? HOW DO YOU STRIVE TO MAKE YOUR GUESTS FEEL AT HOME DURING THEIR STAY?
It’s where your heart is. It’s where you make it. For me home is not a place it’s a feeling. Home is where memories are created, friends always belong, and laughter never ends. I want our guests to make Ignacia their home away from home.
3. WHAT IS THE MOST INSPIRING PART ABOUT WORKING AT IGNACIA? WHAT INTERESTS YOU EVERY DAY?
All the people that cross through the door. Our team and our guests inspire me everyday. Everyday is different and I learn something new. To have the opportunity to get to know people from all different places and backgrounds, to listen and share stories and become friends with them is priceless. To be able to bring them a memorable experience at our guest house and see them leave with the biggest smile on their faces and read the thank you notes that they write to us makes everything worth it.
4. WE LOVE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE. DO YOU HAVE A FASHION ICON?
Omg! Thank you! I would say The Olsen twins and Cory Kennedy had a big influence on me. I’m always looking for comfort pieces, cool graphic t-shirts and baggy clothes. Recently I’m obsessed with Virginia Calderon’s (@chicadeoro) personal style.
5. WHAT DOES A DAY OFF LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
I would wake up late if possible and start my day with some coffee and get ready to explore the city. I’m always looking for new spots and things to do and to eat to recommend to our guests. So a day off is a perfect excuse to go out and check a new restaurant, an exhibition at a museum or at a gallery and new shops. It’s also a great opportunity to go to my hometown to visit my mom, my grandma, and my dog Rocky.
6. IS THERE A PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOURSELF AS A YOUNG GIRL?
I would say to myself, “Everything will be ok, it takes time but you’ll find your place.” :)
